Lake Kivu, Gisenyi

Wed 8th - Thurs 9th April: Right on the border with the Republic of Congo, we visit the North Shore of Lake Kivu. During the day, the best place to swim is at Serena Hotel. They have a lovely sandy beach, great facilities and reasonably priced food.

We chose Hotel Belvedere up on the nearby hill for its stunning views and from our balcony got a wonderful surprise in seeing volcano Nyiragongo bubbling away at night. With breakfast and wifi included, we enjoy a leisurely morning and head back to Serena for one last swim before heading back to Kigali.

At the bottom, J negotiates a good price for 2 pretty goat skinned rugs.
